Epacris crassifolia subsp. crassifolia R.Br. APNI* Description: A low, procumbent to semi-erect shrub to 30 cm; young branches red-brown, smooth, pubescent; old stems dark brown, scaley, lower branches bare with raised leaf scars.
Leaves flat, spreading, obovate to oblanceolate, rarely elliptical, 4.5–13 mm long, 2–6.5 mm wide, glabrous to densely hirsute; apex obtuse; base cuneate to obtuse; margin entire, thickened often ciliate; venation reticulate with 1–3 prominent veins; petiole 0.6–2.0 mm, semi-appressed, pubescent.
Flowers white, 3–5.5 mm diam., usually few and scattered, sometimes in clusters near ends of branches; pedicel 2.5–3.5 mm; bracts ovate, glabrous to hirsute, margin ciliate, apex acute; sepals elliptic, 3–4 mm long, glabrous to hirsute, apex rounded; corolla tube 5.5–7 mm long, 1–2 mm wide at throat, cylindrical with central bulge, lobes 1–2 mm long, apex rounded; corolla caducous. Anthers brown, 1 mm long, sub-sessile, inserted just below junction of lobes. Ovary 1.5–2 mm diam., glabrous; style 3–5.5 mm long, cylindrical; stigma rounded, level with anthers, nectary scales truncate approx. ΒΌ height of ovary.
