Description: Trees to 16 m tall, dioecious.
Adult leaves leathery, glabrous; petiole 0.5–1 cm long; lamina elliptic, (3–) 5–9 cm long, (1.5–) 2–4 cm broad; base acute to slightly rounded-obtuse; apex often slightly oblique, entire, rounded; venation 4 or 5 primary veins on each side of midrib above 3 basal veins, reticulate. Juvenile leaves lanceolate, pinnatisect-dentate.
Inflorescence dense, in axils of upper leaves, 3–5 mm long. Perianth lobes membranous, 1–2 mm long, margins dry and more or less membranous. Anthers rounded, 1– 1.5mm long. Ovary 1 mm long, apically truncate with 2 forked stigmatic lobes.
Drupe, fleshy, globular, 6–7 mm long, purple; style persistent. Endocarp conical, 5.5–6 mm long, deeply pitted.
Flowering: December to early February
Distribution and occurrence: Endemic to LHI Widespread in owland forests.
NSW subdivisions: LHI
Celtis conferta subsp. conferta, the other subspecies, is endemic to New Caledonia.
