Description: Woody climbers or scandent shrubs.
Leaves opposite.
Flowers mostly in axillary racemes, sometimes terminal and paniculate. Perianth segments 2–11, often 6 in 2 series. Stamens often numerous. Ovary 1-locular; ovule solitary.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 or 2 genera, 5–9 species, tropical & subtropical, Celebes, Moluccas, New Guinea, Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji, Samoa, Marquesas Is. Australia: 1 genus, 1 species (endemic).
