Description: Usually branched shrubs or small trees.
Leaves compound, usually trifoliate, petiolate. Leaflets sessile.
Inflorescence paniculate, lateral, terminal, or both. Petals 5, whitish or greeny-yellow. Calyx of 5 segments which are often unequal.. Stamens 5, or in pistillate flowers, represemted by 5 staminodes.
Flowering: Fruits a whitish or dun–coloured sessile fleshy drupe.
Distribution and occurrence: C. 70 species, distributed from India to South Africa, mostly in south Africa.
