Description: Twining or trailing perennial herbs.
Leaves alternate, pinnately 3-foliolate; leaflets usually 3-lobed, pubescent; stipules and stipels present.
Inflorescences axillary racemes; bracts caducous. Calyx with upper 2 teeth fused. Standard clawed, auriculate, ± same length as keel and as wings. Stamens ± all fused into sheath or diadelphous.
Pod oblong, compressed; seeds numerous, without obvious aril.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 35 species, Himalayas to Japan, South-East Asia to Pacific. Australia: 2 species (introduced), Qld, N.S.W.
