Description: Terrestrial, lithophytic or epiphytic herbs with monomorphic stems, subterranean stems (rhizomes) absent; branching system isodichotomous, shoots terminating in strobili.
Strobili pendulous, terminal on shoots, sometimes branched. Sporophylls broad-ovate to broad-triangular.
Distribution and occurrence: Around 250 species worldwide, with 12 in Australia and 1 in New South Wales.
