Description: Woody climbers or scandent shrubs, dioecious.
Leaves entire or almost so.
Flowers small, unisexual, in axillary racemes. Male flowers with hemispherical perianth with 5 lobes; anthers numerous, ± sessile. Female flowers with globose perianth, lobes absent; carpels several, glabrous, with styles protruding through orifice of perianth.
Fruiting perianth enlarged, fleshy, at length splitting and revealing drupaceous fruit.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 20 species, Malesia, Australia. Australia: 3 species (endemic), Qld, N.S.W.
