Description: Slender bulbous perennials.
Leaves strap-like, persistent during flowering or deciduous before flowering.
Inflorescence umbellate; flowers white to deep pink or scarlet; tepals commonly with wavy margins.
Fruit a capsule, thin-walled; seeds fleshy, oval or round.
Distribution and occurrence: About 25 species in southern Africa; 4 spp commonly cultivated in Australia and occasionally naturalised.
