Description: Tufted perennial herbs, rhizomatous.
Leaves 3-ranked, linear to lanceolate, keeled, sheath closed at base, lower surface silvery white indumentum of filiform scales.
Inflorescence a terminal panicle; lower branches subtended by leafy bracts; upper bracts membranous. Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic. Tepals 10–14, fused below. Tepals 10–14, inserted on perianth tube; anthers introrse, dehiscing by longitudinal slits. Ovary 5–7-locular; placentas axile, expanded into elongate lobes.
Fruit a berry; seeds numerous.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
