Description: Monoecious herbs or shrubs, usually small and glabrous.
Leaves alternate or opposite, entire, flat or with recurved margins; stipules minute.
Flowers in dense, head-like cymes, axillary or terminal, sessile or shortly pedicellate. Male flowers numerous, females solitary or several together. Flowers small, sepals 4 or 5, petaloid, spreading; petals as many as sepals. Stamens usually twice as many as petals, filaments distinct or shortly united at base. Ovule solitary in each loculus; styles 3, deeply divided into 2 fringed branches.
Capsule globose or 3-angled, separating into three 2-valved segments; seeds ovoid or oblong, smooth, carunculate.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 10 species, endemic Australia. Australia: Qld, N.S.W. & SW W.A.
