Description: Shrubs or small trees, with simple hairs, unarmed.
Leaves alternate, imparipinnate; leaflets with margins irregularly crenate; lateral leaflets alternate and usually increasing in size towards the tip of the rachis.
Inflorescences terminal, paniculate. Flowers bisexual. Sepals fused into an unlobed or 5-lobed cup. Petals 5, valvate, not persistent in fruit. Stamens 10, free, erect. Ovary usually 5-locular, ± ellipsoidal; styles fused, arising terminally from ovary; stigma capitate; ovules 2 in each loculus.
Fruit a berry, lacking pulp vesicles; seeds dull, brown.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 10 species, Indon. & Pacific. Australia: 1 species
