Description: Biennial or perennial herbs, hairs unbranched.
Leaves simple, toothed.
Flowers in terminal racemes. Sepals saccate. Petals long-clawed.
Silicula strongly compressed, septum broad; seeds several in each loculus. Valves and seeds falling and leaving the persistent silvery septum. Frequently cultivated as an ornamental, especially for dried arrangements of the silvery septa of the fruit.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 3 species, Europe. Australia: 1 species (naturalized).
