Description: Climber or scandent shrub.
Leaves [3–7-veined from near base] or pinnately veined, petiolate.
Inflorescence axillary, paniculate. Sepals 7–12, spirally arranged, inner ones larger, glabrous or almost so. Petals 5–9, fleshy. Male flowers with 9–40 stamens, anthers dehiscing transversely. Female flowers with 2 or 3 carpels.
Drupes ± compressed, stylar scar near base.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 20 species, China, South-East Asia to Australia, Polynesia. Australia: 2 species (1 species endemic), Qld, N.S.W.
