Description: Terrestrial ferns; rhizome long-creeping, covered with narrow scales and hairs.
Fronds erect; stipe glossy and smooth; lamina 2-pinnate or more compound, pale green, membranous to leathery, usually glabrous; pinnae opposite, basal pinnules of the pinnae often reduced and stipule-like, veins loosely anastomosing.
Sori marginal, covered by a broad false indusium.
Distribution and occurrence: World: c. 7 species, pantropical & temperate regions. Australia: 1 species (native).
