Description: Dioecious, glabrous or hairy shrubs.
Leaves simple, not lobed; petiolate. Male flowers shortly pedicellate, several flowers in axillary paniculate inflorescences; female flowers sessile or nearly so in few-flowered paniculate or racemose axillary inflorescences. Epicalyx absent. Calyx lobes 5. Petals 5. Male flowers with c. 30 stamens. Female flowers with a 5-locular ovary; styles 5, linear.
Fruit a schizocarpic capsule.
