Description: Annual or perennial herbs; stems branching, hollow.
Leaves opposite, terminal lobes alternate, sessile, entire to toothed.
Heads solitary or many, pedunculate or sessile, in corymbs or panicles; heads hemispherical; involucral bracts free, ± 2-seriate, outer leaf-like, 5–8, inner green-membraneous, subtending ray florets, passing into the scales of the convex receptacle. Ray florets yellow, 1-seriate, female, ligulate. Disc florets tubular, bisexual.
Ray achenes 3-angled; disc achenes 4-angled; pappus absent.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 12 species, tropical Africa. Australia: 1 sp (naturalized).
