Description: Perennial herbs with a taproot, sometimes rhizomatous, glabrous.
Leaves 1–3-pinnate; leaflets ovate, rhombic or fan-shaped, often glaucous, sessile or sometimes petiolate, sheathing at base.
Inflorescence axillary, a compound umbel; bracts and bracteoles few to several, narrow linear, free or partly fused. Flowers bisexual or unisexual and the plants polygamous; white. Sepals small. Petals board-ovate, with strongly inflexed apex. Stylopodium low-conical.
Fruit ovoid, ellipsoid or oblong; carpophore entire or divided; mericarps 5-ribbed, the lateral ribs sometimes winged.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 7 species, New Zealand & Australia. Australia: 3 species (2 species endemic), N.S.W., Vic.
