Description: Perennial herbs with erect, simple or branched stems; rhizome wiry.
Leaves 2-ranked, elliptic to lanceolate, reduced to cataphylls on lower stem; midrib prominent with several converging longitudinal veins.
Flowers axillary, solitary or in few-flowered cymes, pendent. Stamens 6 free, anthers dehiscing by longitudinal slits. Tepals ± equal. Ovary 3- or 4-locular or incompletely 1-locular.
Berry spongy; seeds few to many.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 2 spp., endemic Aust., Qld, N.S.W., Vic., Tas.
