Description: Annual herb, villous to woolly, rarely glabrous.
Leaves cauline, alternate, sessile.
Heads axillary, solitary, campanulate, held above foliage on long scapes; involucral bracts herbaceous with scarious margins, imbricate in several unequal series, dark purple-brown with white margins, glandular, clasping the heads in fruit (not reflexed); receptacle naked, conical, pitted. Ray florets numerous, in several series, female, fertile, ligulate. Disc florets fewer, bisexual, fertile, tubular, 5-toothed. Anthers obtuse at the base. Style branches linear; those of disc florets with a papillose linear terminal appendage.
Achenes flattened, smooth, not beaked; pappus of barbellate bristles in several rows, sessile on the achene.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
