Flowers in dense racemes. Sepals equal, erect or spreading. Petals reduced or absent.
Siliqua dehiscent; valves with a distinct midvein; seeds in 1 row per loculus, mucilaginous when wet.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 55 species, America, Eurasia, southern Africa. Australia: 1 species (naturalized).
