Description: Woody climber or rarely trees.
Leaves alternate, imparipinnate; stipules small or absent.
Inflorescences racemes or panicles, axillary or terminal; bracts and bracteoles small, caducous. Calyx tube truncate or shortly toothed. Standard ± circular; wings and keel about same length. Stamens diadelphous; anthers uniform. Ovary hairy; ovules 2–5.
Pod compressed, leathery, indehiscent, upper suture or both sutures narrowly winged; seeds usually 1–3, compressed, circular to reniform, arillate.
Distribution and occurrence: World: c. 80 species, tropical, chiefly Asia & Africa. Australia: c. 3 species (2 species endemic), Qld, N.S.W.
