Description: Rhizome short- to medium-creeping, bearing many thin light brown scales.
Fronds erect; stipe stout, dark and scaly at the base, paler above; lamina herbaceous, 2-pinnatisect with pinnae divided almost to the midvein but divisions never stalked.
Sori linear or oblong, in rows on either side of the midvein of the segments; indusium thin, pale brown.
Distribution and occurrence: World: c. 28 species, trop. Afr., Madag., N Amer., India to Pac. Is. Australia: 1 species (native).
