Description: Deciduous trees, unarmed.
Leaves alternate, bipinnate; rachis with ± pubescent, sessile glands between the lower or between several pinnae pairs; stipules caducous.
Inflorescences axillary or ± terminal, corymb-like racemes. Flowers usually bisexual. Calyx deeply 5-lobed, valvate. Petals 5, long-clawed. Stamens 10, free, subequal to petals. Ovary sessile, many-ovuled; style filiform; stigma slightly dilated.
Pod oblong, slowly dehiscent, flat, woody, nearly solid between transversely arranged seeds.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 10 species, Africa, Madagascar, India. Australia: 1 species
