Description: Perennial climbing herbs, stems usually striate, woody at least at base.
Leaves alternate, simple, margins palmately lobed or angled, reducing in size along stem, palmately veined; petiolate; stipulate.
Heads in terminal and axillary corymbose panicles; involucral bracts 1-seriate with small bracteoles present at base of involucre; receptacle ± flat, without scales. Heads with numerous florets; florets tubular and bisexual. Anthers tailed with sterile basal auricles. Style branches filiform.
Achenes ± terete, ribbed, glabrous; pappus of slender hairs, not persistent.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, southern Africa. Australia: 1 species (naturalized).
