Description: Perennial subshrubs with erect or ascending branches.
Leaves small, simple, entire; hairs bifid.
Flowers terminal in leafy spikes or heads, bracteolate. Sepals 5, free, subequal. Corolla campanulate, shortly 5-lobed, lobes hairy, ± hooded. Stamens 5, ± equal in length, laterally fused at the base with occasional tubercles at the point of attachment. Disc not prominent. Ovary ellipsoid, partly or completely 2-locular with 2 ovules per loculus, densely hairy in the upper half; styles 2, fused in the lower half, stigmas capitate.
Capsule ovoid, splitting longitudinally into 2–4 valves, usually 1-seeded.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, tropical & warm-temp. regions. Australia: 1 species (native).
