Description: Weak climbers, tendrils simple or 2-branched.
Leaves palmately compound, (3–)5(–7)-foliolate, central leaflet larger than laterals; glabrous or pubescent, margins entire to deeply serrated.
Cymes leaf-opposed, congested or lax. Calyx shortly lobed. Petals 4 or 5, free, yellowish-green or reddish. Disc concave, flat or spreading, fused to base of ovary. Ovary 2-locular; 2 ovules in each loculus; style conical; stigma small, shortly capitate.
Berries 1–4-seeded.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 6 species. 2 species endemic to Australia; 1 species in NSW.
The single species in NSW was previously placed in Cissus.
