Description: Shrubs or subshrubs, mostly glabrous.
Leaves usually alternate, rarely opposite or irregularly whorled, simple, entire, occasionally toothed; stipules small, bristly or absent.
Flowers in terminal or rarely axillary racemes; pedicels short; bracteoles 2, caducous. Calyx lobes ± equal, the upper pair broader and united higher up. Petals clawed; standard circular or reniform, longer than the other petals; wings oblong, much longer than keel; keel straight, obtuse or with an erect point. Stamens free. Ovary sessile or stipitate, pubescent; ovules 8 to numerous; style short, incurved with a terminal, often oblique stigma.
Pod ovoid, turgid or compressed; seeds without an aril.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 18 species, endemic Australia. Australia: Qld, N.S.W. & SW W.A.
