Description: Biennial herb, aromatic, ± woolly.
Leaves alternate, cauline, sessile, stem clasping ± auriculate.
Inflorescence terminal, much-branched, compound corymbs; heads ovoid to ± obovoid; involucral bracts c. 15, spirally inserted up peduncle, imbricate, scarious with lower central region of innermost bracts herbaceous, inner ± conduplicate; receptacle minute, scales absent. Florets 2–4, funnelform, bisexual (some plants appear to be functionally male or female), 5-toothed. Anthers fine-tailed, with acute terminal appendages. Style branches truncate, apex papillate, entire in functionally male flowers.
Achenes oblong, ± pointed at base, with scattered short glandular hairs; pappus absent.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
