Description: Annual or perennial herbs, glabrous.
Leaves simple, margins entire.
Inflorescence a compound umbel; bracts often absent, bracteoles 4–7. Flowers bisexual, yellow or yellow-green. Sepals usually absent. Petals ± circular, with inflexed apex. Stylopodium low, entire.
Fruit ovoid- or oblong-globose, sometimes laterally compressed; carpophore free; mericarps with 5 filiform or narrow-winged, conspicuous ridges.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 150 species, Europe, Asia, Africa, North America. Australia: 3 species (naturalized), Qld, N.S.W., Vic., S.A., W.A.
