Description: Twining climbers.
Leaves alternate, stipules absent.
Flowers bisexual, usually solitary in axils of leaves. Perianth segments spirally arranged, not clearly differentiated into sepals and petals, 13–17 tepals, caducous. Disc annular, fleshy, lobed. Stamens 6–13, anthers almost sessile, muriculate, apiculate. Ovary ovoid; style thick, persistent in fruit, stigma inconspicuous.
Fruit berry-like, surrounded at base by persistent disc.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 2 species, Chile, Australia. Australia: 1 species (endemic).
