Description: Small to medium-sized shrubs.
Leaves 3-foliolate, sessile and appearing simple and whorled; leaflets entire, lobed or toothed with glands on the margins; stipules absent.
Flowers solitary, axillary, bisexual. Sepals 4–10, valvate, spreading, persistent. Petals 4–10, obovate, pink or white. Stamens 4 to many, free, perigynous; anthers dehiscing by apical pores extending to longitudinal slits. Ovary of 2 fused carpels, 1-locular, superior to half-inferior; styles 2, free, spreading.
A loculicidally dehiscent capsule.
Distribution and occurrence: 4 spp., endemic to Australia (Qld, NSW, Vic, Tas, SA)
Treated as belonging to its own family, Baueraceae, in Flora of NSW vol. 1 (1990) but now regarded as part of family Cunoniaceae.
