Description: Shrubs or small trees.
Leaves alternate, simple, margins entire or toothed, lower surface usually silvery-whitish.
Inflorescences terminal or axillary corymbose panicles. Calyx tube short, 5- or 6-toothed. Petals as many as calyx teeth. Stamens as many as petals. Ovary inferior or half-inferior, 2–5-locular.
Fruit a capsule, 2–5-locular; seeds numerous, ± globose.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 11 species, Australia & New Caledonia. Australia: 3 species (endemic), Qld, N.S.W.
