Description: Trees with regularly whorled branches.
Mature leaves flat, spreading or overlapping, or reduced, often keeled.
Male cones axillary or terminal, solitary or in groups. Female cones axillary or terminal, pedunculate or subsessile, the cone scales often winged, the seed usually retained on the scale at shedding.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 18 species, Southern Hemisphere except Africa. Australia: 2 species, Qld, N.S.W.
