Description: Terrestrial ferns, rhizome short-creeping, covered with scales.
Fronds 3–4-pinnate; stipe erect, scaly; main rachis with a deep, narrow groove along the upper surface, glabrous or bearing a few small scales; lamina herbaceous to leathery; veins free, not reaching the margin.
Sori circular, located along, or terminal on, the veins; indusium ± circular to reniform.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 50 species, tropical to temperate regions. Australia: 1 species, Qld, N.S.W.
