Description: Trees, evergreen, glabrous or scabrous to pubescent; monoecious.
Leaves alternate, toothed.
Flowers unisexual, small. Male flowers in dense cymes, female flowers usually solitary, shortly stalked. Perianth 4- or 5-lobed. Style linear, bifid.
Fruit a drupe, topped with persistent style.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 6 species, Madagascar, South-East Asia, Mexico, Australia. Australia: 1 species (native).
