Description: Rhizome erect, small to minute, covered with hairs or scales, bearing many roots; attached to a perennial prothallus.
Fronds uniform, ephemeral; lamina membranous, deeply lobed to 4-pinnate, basal segments broader than the apical, glabrous or rarely slightly pubescent; veins free.
Sori ± elongate along the veins, often becoming confluent, indusium absent.
Distribution and occurrence: World: c. 7 species, tropical & temperate regions. Australia: 1 species (native).
