Description: Annual herbs (only one a perennial shrub); stems prostrate to erect, glabrous or hairy, simple or branched.
Leaves usually alternate, sessile, entire, ± hairy.
Heads compound; general involucral bracts usually inconspicuous, outer leaf-like, inner with hyaline apices; partial heads 20–numerous, with 1–4 subtending bracts; general receptacle usually cylindrical to narrow-oblong; bracts of partial heads usually 4, the 2 outer conduplicate and surrounding 0–2 inner flat bracts. Florets 1–3; corolla tubular, usually 5-toothed, bisexual. Anthers with basal tail. Style branches truncate.
Achenes ellipsoid or ± obovoid; glabrous, pubescent or papillose; pappus bristly, paleaceous, corona-like or absent.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 15 species, endemic Australia. Australia: Qld, N.S.W., S.A., W.A.
