Description: Small to tall trees.
Leaves alternate, simple with margins entire to pinnatisect, or imparipinnate. Conflorescences terminal [or axillary], without involucral bracts, [sometimes aggregated into distinct bunches], pseudo-racemose; flowers borne in pairs.
Flowers ± actinomorphic, red or pink, bird-pollinated. Perianth gently incurved in bud; tepals cohering in a split tube after anthesis. Hypogynous glands fused into a crescentic to horseshoe-shaped nectary. Ovary stipitate, glabrous; pollen presenter strongly oblique.
Fruit a woody follicle; seeds winged.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 4 species New Guinea, Australia. Australia: 3 species (endemic), Qld, N.S.W.
