Description: Small perennial herbs, usually densely tufted, rarely short-decumbent or ascending, ± glabrous.
Leaves alternate, margins entire.
Heads solitary or few in corymbs, sessile or short-pedunculate, small; involucral bracts 2-seriate, ± equal or outer shorter; receptacle ± flat, naked. Florets tubular; outer female, 3- or 4-toothed; inner bisexual or male, 4-toothed. Anthers obtuse to acutely short-tailed, apical appendage ± tongue shaped. Style branches short, truncate.
Achenes 4-angled to terete or flattened, unwinged; pappus absent.
Distribution and occurrence: World: c. 20 species, Fuegia, Falkland Is, New Zealand & Australia. Australia: 3 species (endemic), N.S.W., Vic., Tas.
