Description: Rhizomes suberect, or short- to long-creeping, irregularly branching, rather thick, to densely covered with brown to bright brown multicellular hairs, roots numerous and robust.
Several fronds in a tuft. Stipes 1–16 cm long, clustered or irregularly distanced. Blades bipinnate to 5-pinnatifid, narrow-ovate to linear-ovate, 40 cm long, 6 cm wide, one main vein coming from midrib, laminae often reduced, regular arrangement of elongate cells observed in some species, internal cell walls various (thin to thick, straight to coarsely pitted).
Sori apical on short segments, tubular to campanulate, lips sometimes dilate, receptacles long-exserted.
Distribution and occurrence: Paleotropics (Asia to the Pacific) c. 15 species; Australia 3 species; NSW 2 species. In humid places, or epiphytic on tree trunks including tree ferns.
