Description: Terrestrial ferns with erect or semierect trunks, usually bearing 2 or more crowns of fronds.
Fronds uniform or somewhat dimorphic, 2-pinnate or more compound; stipe with 2 stipular expansions at the base; vernation circinate; veins free.
Sporangia relatively large and ± globose, shortly stalked, not grouped into definite sori, indusia absent, splitting when mature.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 3 genera, c. 18 species, cosmopolitan. Australia: 2 genera, 2 species, Qld, N.S.W., Vic., Tas., S.A.
