Family LINDSAEACEAE
Description: Terrestrial [or sometimes epiphytic] ferns; rhizome creeping, covered with brown, entire, non-peltate, non-clathrate scales.
Fronds uniform to ± dimorphic, vernation circinate; stipe not articulated to the rhizome; lamina simple, pinnate or more compound, glabrous or covered with minute hairs; veins free or loosely reticulate.
Sori submarginal; indusium present, opening towards the margin of the segment.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 6 genera, c. 200 species, chiefly tropical, also in temperate regions. Australia: 1 genus, 15 species, all States.
